Dr. Laura D. Cassidy

Dr. Laura Cassidy is a Professor of Epidemiology and has over 20 years pf experience in epidemiology and global health.  She has collaborated on Occupational Epidemiology studies in Russia and Northern Ireland and the development of trauma registries in Haiti and Nigeria. She has established and strengthened research and education partnerships in multiple countries, including Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Nepal. Her established international partnerships include Makerere University, the Resilient Africa Network, Dhulikhel Hospital and Kathmandu University in Nepal and the Rwandan NGO’s, Aegis Trust and Health Builders. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Health Builders.

Dr. Cassidy is an academic leader currently serving as the Associate Dean of Global Health and Director of the Institute for Health & Equity at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). She holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Physics (1987), an M.S. in Biostatistics (1993), and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology (2000) from the University of Pittsburgh. ​She is a graduate fellow (2018) of the prestigious Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) for women. She has over 140 publications in peer-reviewed journals. Her work is characterized by a dedication to health equity, innovative research, cultural sensitivity, bi-directional learning, and community engagement.
