Arusha Health Center Success Story

Appointing a new manager leads to an incredible six-month transformation in Nyabihu.

Arusha Health Center in Nyabihu, Western Province, faced major setbacks due to ineffective leadership, resulting in poor patient care, low staff motivation, and diminished community confidence. Declining patient numbers led to reduced revenue, making it difficult for the facility to cover its expenses, particularly outstanding pharmacy debts.

To resolve these challenges, Health Builders stepped in as a mentor, advocating for appointing a skilled health center manager with a strong background in health care administration. The new leadership introduced innovative management strategies, optimized resource utilization, and prioritized patient-centered care to enhance service delivery.

In just six months, the health center saw a remarkable turnaround:

  • Patient numbers doubled

  • Internal revenue increased

  • 80% of long-standing pharmacy debts cleared

This success underscores the importance of strong leadership and mentorship in strengthening health care systems in rural Rwanda. The partnership between Health Builders and local authorities played a crucial role in revitalizing the facility, proving that strategic leadership and efficient management can significantly improve health care service quality and sustainability.
